Ping Test

This free ping test times ten requests from your browser to Cloudflare and Google and shows your latency, jitter and loss, so you can see how responsive your connection is.

Runs in your browser: one warm-up, then 10 timed requests to each server. Nothing is sent to us.

What this ping test measures

It measures the HTTP round-trip time from your browser: how long a tiny request takes to reach a server and come back. We send one warm-up request, then ten timed ones, one after another.

This is not an ICMP ping. Browsers can't send those, so the times include a little browser and HTTPS overhead, and reused connections can make later requests faster than the first. Treat the numbers as a good guide, not a lab measurement.

How to read the results

Latency (the average) is the delay you feel. Under 50 ms is great for calls and games, under 100 ms is fine for nearly everything, and above 200 ms you'll notice lag.

Jitter is how much the delay jumps around between requests. Low jitter matters for video calls. Loss is the share of requests that didn't come back within 3 seconds, and anything above zero is worth looking into.

How to run a real ping from your computer

On Windows, open Command Prompt and type: ping -n 10 1.1.1.1

On macOS or Linux, open Terminal and type: ping -c 10 1.1.1.1. That sends real ICMP packets and gives you the same min, average and max figures, without any browser overhead.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as the ping command?

Not quite. The ping command uses ICMP packets, which browsers can't send. We time small HTTPS requests instead, which tracks your real-world responsiveness closely but adds a little overhead. For a true ICMP ping, use the commands above.

Why is the first result slower?

The first request has to look up the name and set up a secure connection. That's why we send a warm-up request first and leave it out of the results.

What is a good ping?

Under 50 ms is great, 50 to 100 ms is good, 100 to 200 ms is OK for browsing, and above 200 ms feels sluggish in games and calls.

How can I lower my ping?

Use a cable instead of Wi-Fi, pause big downloads and streams on your network, restart your router, and pick servers close to you. If it's always high, ask your internet provider.

Does this test send anything to TPC Hosting?

No. The test runs entirely in your browser and only talks to Cloudflare and Google. Nothing is sent to us.
