The DNS Manager allows you to create backups of your DNS zones so you can restore them if records are accidentally deleted or changed.
Create a manual backup
- Open the DNS Manager and click on the zone you want to back up.
- Click Backups or the backup icon.
- Click Create Backup.
- The backup will appear in your backup list with a timestamp.
View and restore a backup
- Open the zone and go to Backups.
- You will see a list of available backups (manual and automatic) with timestamps.
- Click Restore next to the backup you want to use.
- Confirm the restore. All current records will be replaced with the records from the backup.
Export a backup to a file
- In the Backups list, click Export next to a backup.
- A file in BIND zone format will be downloaded to your computer. Keep this as an offline copy.
Import a backup from a file
- In the Backups section, click Import.
- Upload a previously exported backup file.
- The records from the file will be loaded into the zone.
Tip: Create a manual backup before making any major changes to your DNS records. Automatic backups are also created by the system, but having your own gives you full control.
