The DNS Manager allows you to create backups of your DNS zones so you can restore them if records are accidentally deleted or changed.

Create a manual backup

  1. Open the DNS Manager and click on the zone you want to back up.
  2. Click Backups or the backup icon.
  3. Click Create Backup.
  4. The backup will appear in your backup list with a timestamp.

View and restore a backup

  1. Open the zone and go to Backups.
  2. You will see a list of available backups (manual and automatic) with timestamps.
  3. Click Restore next to the backup you want to use.
  4. Confirm the restore. All current records will be replaced with the records from the backup.

Export a backup to a file

  1. In the Backups list, click Export next to a backup.
  2. A file in BIND zone format will be downloaded to your computer. Keep this as an offline copy.

Import a backup from a file

  1. In the Backups section, click Import.
  2. Upload a previously exported backup file.
  3. The records from the file will be loaded into the zone.

Tip: Create a manual backup before making any major changes to your DNS records. Automatic backups are also created by the system, but having your own gives you full control.
