Spam is one of the most serious violations on TPC Hosting. This article explains what constitutes spam, your obligations, and the consequences of violations.

Zero tolerance for spam

Sending unsolicited commercial email (spam) — whether from TPC Hosting servers or from third-party servers to promote content hosted on TPC Hosting — will result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without prior notice.

This includes spam from compromised applications

If your website is hacked or has a vulnerable contact form or script that is used to send spam, it is treated identically to intentional spam. You are responsible for keeping all applications secure and up to date.

Prohibited email practices

  • Sending to harvested, purchased, rented, or borrowed email lists
  • Using forged headers, non-existent sender domains, or misleading addressing
  • Sending emails containing malware, phishing links, or other malicious content
  • Using a third party's domain or server without their consent
  • Sending to incomplete, inaccurate, or unverified addresses
  • Any email campaign likely to generate a high volume of spam complaints

Your obligations

  • Respond to TPC Hosting's spam-related inquiries within 24 hours of notification
  • Provide proof of subscriber consent upon request
  • Disclose your subscription and unsubscription methods upon request

IP blacklisting costs

On shared hosting, your email traffic shares an IP address with other customers. If your actions cause a shared IP to be blacklisted, you are liable for the costs TPC Hosting incurs to delist the IP. Remediation is billed at €15.00/hour (minimum one hour).

Automatic blacklist response

TPC Hosting monitors IP reputation daily. If a shared IP is blacklisted:

  • Outbound email on port 25 is immediately blocked at the firewall for that IP
  • The associated customer is notified automatically by email
  • Email service is restored only after the cause is resolved and the IP is delisted
