Each email account has a storage quota — a maximum amount of email it can hold. When the quota is full, new incoming emails are bounced back to senders.

View and change a mailbox quota

  1. Log in at https://tpc-hosting.com/login and open cPanel.
  2. Under Email, click Email Accounts.
  3. Find the mailbox you want to manage and click Manage.
  4. Scroll to the Storage section.
  5. Enter a quota in megabytes (MB), or click Unlimited to remove the cap.
  6. Click Update Email Settings.

Check current usage

On the Email Accounts page, each mailbox shows its current usage and quota next to the address (e.g., 450 MB / 1,000 MB). The usage updates periodically, not in real time.

What happens when a mailbox is full

  • New incoming emails are rejected with a bounce message to the sender.
  • The account owner cannot send new email from that mailbox.
  • Existing email is not deleted — you must free space by deleting old messages from webmail or your email client.

Tips

  • Set quotas appropriate to usage — 1,000–2,000 MB is sufficient for most business mailboxes.
  • If your hosting plan has limited total disk space, setting individual quotas prevents one mailbox from consuming all available storage.
  • Encourage users to delete large attachments after saving them locally, or to use cloud storage links instead of emailing large files.
