Softaculous can update installed applications (WordPress, Joomla, PrestaShop, etc.) with one click, directly from cPanel. Keeping software up to date is the single most important step to protect your site from security vulnerabilities.

Update an installation

  1. Log in at https://tpc-hosting.com/login and open cPanel.
  2. Under Software, click Softaculous Apps Installer.
  3. Click the All Installations icon in the top navigation bar (grid icon), or find My Installations in the left sidebar.
  4. All your installed applications appear with their current version. Installations with available updates show an update badge or an arrow icon.
  5. Click the Update arrow icon next to the installation you want to update.
  6. Review the update details (current version → new version).
  7. If the option is available, tick Backup before Update.
  8. Click Update Now.

Update all outdated installations at once

Softaculous can update all outdated installations in bulk. From the All Installations view, look for the Update All button at the top. This updates every application on your account that has a newer version available.

Enable automatic updates

Softaculous supports automatic updates for supported applications. To enable:

  1. In the All Installations view, click the Edit (pencil) icon next to an installation.
  2. Scroll to the Auto Upgrade section.
  3. Enable automatic upgrades for the application and/or its plugins and themes.
  4. Click Save Installation Details.

Note: For WordPress specifically, WP Toolkit (also available in cPanel) offers more granular update control including Smart Updates. See: WP Toolkit — Update WordPress, Plugins, and Themes.

Before you update

  • Always take a full backup first. Updates can occasionally cause compatibility issues with themes or plugins.
  • Test the site after updating before assuming everything is fine.
  • If you have a staging environment, test the update there first.
