WP Toolkit provides a central place to update WordPress core, plugins, and themes across all your installations — individually or in bulk. Keeping everything updated is the most effective way to prevent security incidents.

Check for updates

  1. Open WP Toolkit in cPanel (Software → WordPress or WP Toolkit).
  2. Each site card shows the current WordPress version and a count of pending plugin and theme updates.
  3. Click Updates on a site card to see the full list of available updates.

Update WordPress core, plugins, or themes

  1. On the Updates screen, select the components you want to update — WordPress core, specific plugins, specific themes, or all of them.
  2. Click Update or Update All.
  3. WP Toolkit applies the updates and shows the result for each component.

Smart Update (test before applying)

Smart Update is WP Toolkit's safest update method. It creates a staging copy of your site, applies updates there, runs automated checks for errors, and only applies the updates to your live site if no problems are detected.

  1. On the Updates screen, look for the Smart Update option.
  2. Enable it and click Update.
  3. WP Toolkit clones the site, applies updates in the clone, and shows you the comparison before and after.
  4. Review the report. Click Apply to Production if the checks passed, or Discard to cancel.

Enable automatic updates

  1. In WP Toolkit, click Manage on a site card.
  2. Go to the Updates tab.
  3. Enable automatic updates for:
    • WordPress core (minor security releases, or all updates)
    • Plugins
    • Themes
  4. Save the settings.

For production sites, enable automatic updates for minor security releases only. Use Smart Update for major version updates so you can verify compatibility first.

Update all sites at once

On the WP Toolkit home screen (the list of all installations), click Update All at the top to apply all available updates across every site on your account. Use with caution on production sites — back up everything first.
